Raw Material Incoming Inspection (1st Round)
Raw materials such as natural rubber, synthetic rubber, vulcanizers, and antioxidants required for inner tube production are randomly inspected, focusing on rubber purity, hardness, and aging resistance to prevent raw material defects from affecting finished product quality.
Semi-finished Product Inspection (2nd Round)
After the inner tube is formed (before curing), the tire body thickness uniformity, joint quality (for bubbles and wrinkles), and valve pre-installation accuracy are inspected to ensure that the semi-finished product structure meets design standards.
Appearance and dimension inspection after vulcanization (3rd time)
After the innertube undergoes the vulcanization process (setting its shape and strengthening), it undergoes a complete visual inspection:
The surface is inspected for defects such as cracks, bulges, missing glue, and embedded foreign matter.
Key dimensions such as the innertube's width and circumference are measured to ensure they match the 23.5-25 gauge.
Airtightness test (4th time)
This is the most critical step in inner tube testing, typically performed using either a water pressure test or an air pressure test:
Inflate the inner tube to a standard pressure (e.g., 8-10 bar) and immerse it in water to observe for bubbles (to detect minor leaks).
Or, monitor the inner tube using a pressure sensor and allow it to sit for a period of time (e.g., 30 minutes) to confirm that the pressure drop is within the acceptable range (usually ≤5%).
Some companies perform a 100% airtightness test on every inner tube to ensure there is no risk of leaks.
Sampling performance test (5th time, batch)
Samples of finished products from each batch (e.g., 5-10 tubes per 1,000 tubes) are sampled for destructive or durability testing:
Tear strength test: The inner tube is stretched until it ruptures to test whether the breaking strength meets the specified standards;
Aging test: This simulates high-temperature and UV-light environments, accelerating aging to examine changes in rubber elasticity;
Valve strength test: The valve core is repeatedly installed and removed, and tension is applied to test the seal and firmness.
